Joplin Globe: Missouri Rural Crisis Center is deceiving the people of Missouri

September 14, 2018 Dirk

Growing up, my folks made sure I knew what a hard day’s work was. We were taught that you worked until you finished the job, made time for dinner with the family and sat in the front pew at church on Sunday mornings. I guess you could call those rural values. To me, it’s just the way things should be.

There’s an organization that’s been weaseling around rural Missouri called Missouri Rural Crisis Center trying to smooth talk our neighbors. Its intentions? Not so pure.

The Missouri Rural Crisis Center wants to set back our livestock industry a century. Yes, those farmers who provide meals for the entire country, our neighbors and friends? MRCC would have them vilified. The donors of this shady organization are red flags to all rural Missourians. Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream’s owners, who are known for their socialist ambitions; George Soros’ Tides Foundation; and Mark Zuckerberg’s Silicon Valley Community Foundation all contribute to MRCC.

In rural Missouri, hard work means something. Our farmers should be able to work hard and provide for their communities. The Missouri Rural Crisis Center should either learn the value of agriculture or go peddle their goods somewhere else.
